I have some sad news to pass along. Matthew Mather, one of my earliest author friends, passed away in a car accident in September. I took some extended time off after finishing a manuscript in mid-September, which is why I’m only now reaching out to you with this tragic news.
Matt wrote one of the post-apocalyptic genre’s most successful novels, CYBERSTORM, which is how we met. We’d both seen some success with a recent post-apocalyptic thriller, and struck up a conversation about the genre. Since CYBERSTORM, Matt wrote over a dozen more technothrillers and post-apocalyptic books. I’ve read and reviewed many of his novels, finding them to be the most intelligent written thrillers I’ve had the pleasure of reading.
On top of writing a solid thriller, Matt was an all around good guy, always looking to lift up fellow authors. He spearheaded a number of initiatives, most of them on the cutting edge of book publishing industry. It was a privilege and pleasure working with Matt over the years.
To honor his legacy, I’d like to pass along the opportunity for you to help out Matt’s family in one of two ways.
1.) The first, and probably the most impactful, would be to buy one of Matt’s books. I’d recommend starting with CYBERSTORM, a three book series focused on technology and the end of the world, OR his latest, AEON RISING, a more sci-fi oriented post-apocalyptic thriller.

2.) The other way you can help Matt’s family is by donating to his children’s education fund.

Thank you for contributing in whatever way you can. I know Matt’s family really appreciates your help to navigate this tragic time.
All the best,
Steve
Steven, I've been a fan of Matt's for some time. I was honored to be chosen as a proofreader for Aeon Rising. I'm in contact with Nick Smith and offered my "talents" however needed, once a plan is initiated for the rest of the Aeon series. Hope you become part of that team. Beth
